Chemical Exchange Network

The Chemical Exchange Network (CEN) is an independent network (not run by BioLink Depot)formed by educators to facilitate the informal exchange of laboratory chemicals used in teaching biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and general science.

In practice

  1. A teacher that needs some “Yeast Extract” would post a request to the CEN Google Group.
  2. Another teacher that has excess “Yeast Extract” could respond with a donation, or an offer of trade.
  3. The teachers could meet at a Depot Open House, or elsewhere, to make the transaction.

Additionally teachers could post their excess chemicals, and a “wish list” of chemicals.

Information about experiments/protocols, lab equipment, and lab/equipment software can also be exchanged.

As more people join the Chemical Exchange Network, the system will become more effective
